On it's simplest and most ancient form, work is what we do to make our lives better.
The problem we have here is anxious leadership
So the story you're changing is "leadership requires control, anxiety, distrust, being an asshole or a hero" - and you're replacing it with "the power of the collective is what actually works."
That connects directly back to what you said earlier about shared ownership being what makes things stick. It's all the same thread, isn't it? Clean work, collective care, shared ownership, trusting the collective over heroic leadership.
